About Meself

I thought it would be useful to mark my most defining moments from my short existence on the planet.

Firstly I was born in Blackburn (Pretty important because without this everything else wouldn’t have been possible)

Learnt to Talk (Again pretty important due to career choices made at a later date)

Left high school with 11 GCSE’s graded A*-C  (pretty impressive, seen as 6 months previous I had failed all my mock exams with the highest grade being a D in English.  I got an A* in the final exams by the way!)

Discovered radio (Inspired by Chris Evans on Radio 1 I enrolled into a media course at college and volunteered at hospital radio)

Bought some decks (started in my bedroom and it became my life)

Became resident DJ at Gatecrasher (It wasn’t as simple as ‘buying some decks’ and ‘becoming resident at a super club’!  There were a few years between both processes)

Won a competition to become a member of the ‘Thunder Truck’ at Rock Fm in Preston (the position wasn’t permanent and it wasn’t paid)

Covered my first ever live professional show on New Years Day (2 days before my radio debut I was linked up to a drip in hospital!  That’s a story for my book though when I eventually get round to writing it)

Became a professional radio presenter (starting on the overnights at Rock Fm, within 2 months I was moved to the evening show.  After spending a year in the 7-10pm slot and dominating the market taking the show from number 4 to number 1 in Lancashire I was on the move again this time to Breakfast)

2007 Commercial Radio Presenter of the Year (I’d only been on Breakfast 6 months)

2008 European Breakfast Personality of the Year

2008 New York Radio award winner in the category of ‘Best music/radio personality of the Year’

I was also nominated for Radio Personality of the Year at the Sony Radio Awards in 2008 (Jonathan Ross won it, but mark my words I will be back!)

Left my breakfast programme on Rock FM to pursue my ambition of broadcasting on the greatest radio station in the world, BBC Radio 1!

Made my Debut on BBC Radio 1 in April 2011

There have been plenty of other things that I could have written in this section but I thought I’d keep it connected to my Radio career, the thing that the majority of people know me for.
