Hello? Drug created in the lab? What about H.O.U.N.D? He just made John think that he jumped. Nobody else saw him jump, only the leftovers. John would have been incredibly suggestible...

molly hooper workes in a morgue so she has access to dead bodies so she could have eaisily got random male corpse and disguised him as sherlock for him to chuck off the building instead of himself.he also noticed that john had been floored by a bike , creating the perfect oppertunity to fling the corpse to the ground. Also , the body reaching high speeds hurtuling towards the ground would have made the limbs flail around.molly was in on this too , as she Identified that the body was sherlocks to the police , even though she knew he did not even fall off the building.

Sherlock put his jacket and scarf on moriatey then threw him off the building but beforehand when he asked Molly for help he asked her to do the posemortin and say it was Sherlock. The final part is the biker Sherlock told the biker to run into Watson on purpose I think that the biker is a friend of Sherlocks.

He jumped into a open back truck full of bags that was parked by the roadside, he rolled onto the pavement and then the van drove away, before John (knocked over) could see.

I think that sherlock realised he was going to die just after his confratation with kitty. he then went to molly and asked for her help. first he got hold of the drug used in The Hounds of Baskerville and arranged to have watson drugged. then he went to meet moriaty. we saw the whole thing from watsons perspective and if he was drugged he'd see what he feared, which was sherlock jumping. what acctualy happened was while sherlock was making his suicide call, molly came up and put moriaty's body in sherlocks clothes. they then both threw moriaty over the edge. the biker was supposed to knock watson over so that the nurses from the hospital would be the first ones there. they would get moriatys body carried to the morge, where molly (after rushing down from the top) would anounce that the body was sherlocks and cover up evidence of the bullet wound. i think he then lays low at mollys until it blows over and then hunts down the hitmen so he can reveal himself to watson without fearing that their going to be shot.

I think Sherlock is actually part flying fish,so he floated down with a bit of Moriati's blood on his face and held his breath for a while. The fishy smell would also help people think that he is dead. It all sounded a bit fishy to begin with anyway.
ps I love Justin Beiber, he is going to be my husband and even though I am a boy I will have his babies! Just you wait and see!

Here's my theory: that open-backed van seen pulling away after the jump, was actually a rubbish collecting van. Molly managed to put some body from morgue in there, dressed as Sherlock, with hair and all. Somehow, Sherlock managed to jump into the van (that was filled with soft stuffed bags). The real Sherlock chucked the fake Sherlock body out onto the street and was then driven away from the scene. The dizzy and pained Watson wasn't able to tell that it wasn't the actual Sherlock. The body was taken back to the morgue after being pronounced dead, where Molly obviously identified it as the real Sherlock. She was in on the secret, but would do anything for the brilliant detective she loves. Sherlock has returned to being anonymous. The only slight hole in my argument is that a jump from that height, even into a softly padded van, could be very painful.

Molly works in the morgue... I think that could make her assistance pretty useful to someone wanting to fake his own death (added, of course, the seemingly simple conclusion that he finally got some respect for her after she looked through him - he didn't ask for her help directly, he asked for HER).
How Sherlock survived is another matter. He might have had some technique to survive a fall like that (would we be surprised? I wouldn't.) Fooling Watson can't have been the main probleim, either; I would be more concerned with fooling the medical personnel in the hospital. The solution is maybe, as you have been suggesting, some kind of drug?
A far more interesting question is: Did he actually foresee that he would have have to jump from the roof? Because the entire discussion abouth "HOW he did it" depends upon "HOW he knew he would have to do it"; because that limits his chances for preparation.

I know it sounds daft but i remeber a open backed van parked that looked like it had laundry bags in it. Is it possible that he jumpped in to the van and then using the cyclist as a distraction he could then create the scene of him in a bad way? i think molly does have a role too not sure what though. i still have a million questions like if it was all planned how did he know he would have to jump or something? It's so mind blowing!!! xx

The finale of the series was apsolutely fantastic and so gripping that i was nearly falling off my chair; i also was nearly 'taken in' with Sherlock's death and had he of died i think i might have too! xx
Personally i feel that Molly has had a part in this, as she seemed to be the only one who would of helped him 'fake' his death and also Watson's concussion had an impact too - we saw it only from Watson's perspective including his bump on the head, so during those few seconds Sherlock could have done anything!?
Either Sherlock did something once he had jumped (although i am not sure how that would be possible), or before hand. xx
He either used a drug or created an 'illusion' effect. xx

I shall be pondering over this for the next day or so i feel...!

Inspirational!! Thank you! I'm currently studying for my masters and have hit a brick wall with an essay, I was wondering what I'd done in starting the course. I read this and remembered why I'm doing it..my goal. Thanks!

I think like David Cameron has said all along is that kids need good role models in life so its important that this government looks at the real issues of family breakdown and try to address them. I dont think the riots had anything to do with a generation 'ignored' and most of these young people involved were driven by materialism. Im sure most of these people involved were not trashing shops and peoples businesses because they were lacking ambition. Mr Milliband has no leg to stand on because his party made it too easy for people to get away from actually going out and trying to get a career. They stripped all ambition away from them by allowing them to live on a welfare system that accepted laziness and a welfare system that was simply not set up to put these people back onto a road to employment or opportunity.

You make a really good point Adam, but I think Mr Milliband is enjoying the opportunity afforded by being in opposition i.e. you can say what you like, knowing you'll never be asked to make it happen. It's a card the Liberal Democrats traded on for years, until being taken into government as the Tories +1.

These themes were similar to those that swept New Labour to power in '97, and whilst they stayed true to opening up opportunities for all, they also created new problems, the main one being supply and demand of the correctly trained people to the demands of the workplace.

I too had great encouragement from parents throughout school, and it was clear direction from them that led me to go from school, to college and then to University. I studied a degree that I didn't appreciate at the time in IT & Telecommunications, and by hook or by crook, I managed to scrape a 2:1. I studied at Lancaster because my brother studied there, nothing to do with the academic strength or the University or the employability of the degree being studied.

I felt the whole careers advice from school, college and University was pants. I had little idea what I wanted to do before my degree, and too many kids now do degrees as matter of course, with no idea what they want to get out of it.

As it is, after several years beyond graduation of applying for available jobs, I realised I needed to make the most of my degree and began developing websites, learning from books to piece together the bits of my degree concerned with this.

After 5 years, I still have ambition to go further but no idea where I want to end up. If my career was to end tomorrow, I would pick something else up but who knows what.

The importance of role models, and varied work/voluntary experience beyond the parents is so important, because otherwise a child's scope on the world is limited to the view of their parents.

The other thing that is hard for kids from areas such as Blackburn to accept is that to follow their dreams they may have to leave the area, perhaps only in the short term but probably forever. This is scary for some 15 year old kids picking their A Level options.

Loving the above Adam, completely agree with all of it. We all need a goal or else we have nothing to work towards and aim for. I believe goals make us into the people we are, without them we would just exist and almost plod through life. With career and personal goals, it is essential that you ensure your goals are realistic and that you put in a timescale as you have stated. Personally I believe we should aim high as personal achievement is always rewarding, this however is dependent on the individual and their own targets of what success means to them. What happens when you achieve that goal? With weight-loss, once you have accomplished your ‘target weight’ over a set amount of time you then need to strive to maintain it which can be challenging and also disappointing if you put any weight back on. It is important to remind yourself of why you lost the weight in the first place to avoid the pounds slipping back on. I have a ‘fat picture’ in my desk drawer.. that usually works when I’m reaching for a biscuit at work!! Great blog post Adam!!

Brilliant, Adam. One of the things I blog about is fitness and I run a weekly guest post series called My Fitness Story... and it does seem that those that set small goals for themselves and do things gradually and fit them into their lifestyle are most successful. Extreme diets might work in the short term but they are doomed to failure because the fall off that wagon is more spectacular because the wagon is higher up and you have further to fall.

Rappers seem to be the worst for retweeting praise. Although if I'm honest, I do check to see if any of my tweets have been retweeted a lot. And get very excited when they have! Which is rare. I clearly should be complimentary to Tinchy Stryder and I'd be much happier.

The greatest. Hmmmm in my opinion, Cantona was a fantastic player yes, however played at the top level for merely a few years. In comparison, rovers won the league and finish between 2nd and 4th for 4 seasons but we don't class them as great, yet Maun Utd we hail as a great team as they have stopped at the top for so long. Therefore my greatest player would be Ryan Giggs. I don't think he was thee best but the greatest. To remain at the highest level of the game for so many years shows that he is truely the greatest. Behind Keith Andrews of course.

You're drinking in the wrong boozers Adam if you can't find decent ale...Look for the pubs with the old sods and in and there you'll find your good stuff - and my ale hound fiance!
As for the softies with vests, guarantee they're not Londoners! The problem with London is it's full of immigrants from the Home Counties lowering the tone ;)
Great website by the way.

[...] The Steelers are beating (up) teams like a young Mike Tyson beat Michael Spinks. Just ask Vince Young. The fact that Pittsburgh is a road favorite should scare Steeler fans as they historically don’t perform well in this role but….the defense. It’s too good. Certainly too good for Josh Freeman and a hobbled Cadillac to contain. And I say contain because that’s what you have to do against that unit. Contain them. They are likely to score 2 TD’s and dominate every aspect of the Buccaneers’ Nice related topic here: http://www.adamcatterall.co.uk/lets-hope-it-doesnt-go-ars-up-27211/ [...]

I'm the opposite to you. I grew up in Buckinghamshire (note not the posh part) and now live in Lancashire. My poor kids are so confused as to what dinner is! I tend to say lunch and tea.

The teacakes confused me when I first moved here but I've got used to the fact there is no fruit in them now.

Oh, and agree on the gravy. We always used to reckon there is a gravy line drawn across the Midlands, south of which they only have curry sauce in chippies. And I lurve gravy with chips tho can get all posh and have mayo with them! Sorry.

I'm from up here to, Preston.
I still cant get over that people down south dont have gravy -I thought the whole world knew about gravy, seems London chip shops are missing out!
Its great to hear your rants anyway.
Hope all is well down there.

Good article, that sums up how I feel about Torres. I don't have a problem with players wanting to leave for whatever reason - but don't bother kissing the crest and professing your undying love and loyalty. Players earn huge wages but seem to feel they are automatically entitled to winning titles as well. Nando has to accept his own responsibility for the predicament we find ourselves in, he has been sulking, injured, then sulking again whilst still accepting his 110k a week. He'll realise his mistake someday Y.N.W.A

Even though I do agree with most of this blog, I do get the feeling your s Liverpool fan with a bitter taste in your mouth. Torres has more chance of winning anything at Chealsea, also the money will be better. These are the only reasons he's leaving Liverpool.
You are right about players who love their clubs and stay through thick and thin. Duncan Ferguson at Everton was one. Most footballers only care about money now. Pure greed, encouraged by greedy agents.
